Article Submission

Authors can submit their articles in editable Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).

Articles may be submitted in:

English or Hindi (हिन्दी)

Authors may submit their manuscripts through the Submit Your Article page on our website or through the other submission channels provided by the magazine.

Before submitting, please ensure that:

  • The article is original and has not been previously published.
  • The article is not simultaneously under consideration by another publication.
  • The article is relevant to the scope of the magazine.
  • All factual, scientific and technical information has been checked by the author.
  • Appropriate sources are cited wherever necessary.
  • Permission has been obtained for any material, photograph, figure or table that belongs to someone else.
  • The article has been carefully reviewed for language, clarity and accuracy.

Article Preparation

We encourage authors to write in clear, simple and reader-friendly language.

Your article should be informative without being unnecessarily complicated. Technical terms may be used where appropriate, but they should be explained clearly for non-specialist readers.

Recommended Structure

Depending on the type of article, a manuscript may include:

Title
A short, clear and informative title.

Author Information
Author name(s), affiliation/occupation, location and email address of the corresponding author.

Introduction
Briefly introduce the subject and explain why it matters.

Main Content
Present the information, experience, research findings, observations or story in a logical and engaging manner.

Conclusion
Summarize the key message or learning from the article.

References
Include relevant sources where required.

Not every article needs to follow an academic research-paper structure. Popular articles, field stories, interviews, photo stories and experience-based articles may follow a more appropriate journalistic or narrative format.

Article Presentation

Authors are requested to prepare their manuscripts in editable Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).

Articles may be submitted in English or Hindi (हिन्दी). Authors are encouraged to use clear, simple and reader-friendly language so that the content can be understood by both specialist and general readers.

General Formatting

  • Manuscripts should preferably be prepared using Times New Roman font for English text. For Hindi articles, authors may use a suitable Unicode/KrutiDev Hindi font.
  • The manuscript should be typed with 1.5 line spacing and approximately 1 inch (2.54 cm) margins on all sides.
  • The article title should be short, informative and relevant to the content.
  • The title may be formatted in 14–16 pt bold.
  • Author name(s) should be given below the title.
  • Author affiliation, profession/organization, location and the email address of the corresponding author should be clearly mentioned.
  • Main text may generally be presented in 12 pt font, with appropriate headings and subheadings in bold.
  • Authors should use consistent formatting throughout the manuscript.
  • Scientific names and technical terminology should be written accurately. Scientific names should preferably be italicized where appropriate.
  • Abbreviations should be written in full at their first occurrence, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses.

Article Length

As a general guideline, most articles should preferably be between 100 and 2,000 words.

However, we understand that different stories require different lengths. Well-developed articles may exceed this range when the subject genuinely requires additional space.

The editorial team may suggest shortening, restructuring or expanding an article where appropriate.

Images, Figures & Tables

Good visuals can make a story more informative and engaging.

Authors are encouraged to submit relevant:

  • Photographs
  • Figures
  • Charts
  • Maps
  • Illustrations
  • Tables

Images should be of good quality and should be accompanied by appropriate captions and source/credit information.

Authors must ensure that they have the right or permission to submit photographs, illustrations or other copyrighted material.

For photographs featuring identifiable people, authors should obtain appropriate permission where necessary.

References & Sources

Authors should provide reliable sources for factual, scientific and research-based information.

References should be accurate, relevant and verifiable.

For research-based and technical articles, authors are encouraged to provide complete bibliographic details of the sources cited in the article.

For popular and field-based articles, references may be provided where they strengthen the credibility of the information.

We encourage authors to use recent and authoritative sources wherever available, while older references may be included when they are historically or scientifically important.

Editorial Review

Every submitted article is reviewed by the editorial team before publication.

The review process may consider:

  • Relevance to the magazine
  • Originality and usefulness
  • Factual accuracy
  • Scientific or technical quality, where applicable
  • Clarity and readability
  • Practical relevance
  • Quality of photographs, figures or supporting material
  • Suitability for our readers

The editorial team may request clarifications, corrections or revisions from the author before publication.

Where necessary, articles may be reviewed by a subject expert.

Submission of an article does not guarantee publication.

The final decision regarding publication rests with the editorial team.

Originality & Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are:

  • Original
  • Factually responsible
  • Properly attributed
  • Free from plagiarism
  • Not simultaneously submitted elsewhere

By submitting an article, the author confirms that the submitted material is their own work or that they have the necessary rights and permissions to submit it.

The opinions and views expressed in an article are those of the author and do not necessarily represent the views of Flora, Fauna, Food, Forest & Farming.

Copyright & Content Rights

Authors retain responsibility for the originality and integrity of their submitted work.

Upon acceptance, the magazine may obtain the necessary rights to edit, publish, reproduce and distribute the article and associated material on its website and other official publication channels, subject to the terms communicated to the author.

Authors should inform the editorial team if any part of the submitted material has specific copyright restrictions.

Editorial Editing

To maintain consistency and readability, the editorial team may make reasonable changes to:

  • Grammar and language
  • Spelling and punctuation
  • Headings and formatting
  • Article structure
  • Captions
  • Style and presentation

Such editorial changes will aim to improve clarity without changing the author’s intended meaning.

Inspire — present ideas, innovations and stories that can encourage others.

Apply — offer practical knowledge that readers can understand and use.
